Red Bull’s athlete marketing newsletters contains a wealth of interested information about the success of sponsored athletes. However, the previous design was crowded and difficult to digest for the target audience of busy marketers and account managers.
Without removing any content, I worked with a creative director and my agency account teams to design a scannable newsletter using visual hierarchy, wayfinding iconography and summary information.
Creative Execution
Because we did not have the option to remove content from this lengthy e-newsletter, it was important to visually guide the reader through each section.
At the top, I added an “In This Issue” summarizing the highlights of each section.
I varied the scale of the photos and built a consistent typography system to create visual hierarchy throughout the newsletter.
Each major section features a wayfinding icon communication the percentage of completion the reader has reached in the newsletter. Major sections also callout key achievements for the athlete marketing program like the number of total Instagram engagements for the month.
The typography for each athlete story gives the reader key information at a glance like the athlete’s name, sport, a quick blurb of the story and a call-to-action to read the full write up.
